Hughie D. aka weav_deth666
A good friend of mine from my home town passed away under unfortunate circumstances on October 15th 2023. Hughie was a dear childhood friend and a devoted father whose loss has left us broken and empty. Even as our lives moved in different directions, DayZ remained our vessel for catching up – a way for a group of friends in our 30s to stay connected, build camps, and share our lives. He truly loved the game, dedicating over 1,000 hours to its world, primarily inhabiting Server 0009.
We seek this memorial to mark where he last logged out – a place where we can gather to remember the times we played together and honor a man who made the world a brighter place. It would mean the absolute world to us to know he is remembered in the game he loved so much; I know he would have done the same for any of us if the roles were reversed."
RIP TO A GREAT FRIEND - HUGHIE DICINOSKI. 12/06/87 – 15/10/23
Anthony aka WotalTanker
R.I.P WotalTanker. Anthony was a big part of many #DayZ channels and will be missed greatly. He always came in for friendly chats and laughs.
Maks1019
One memorial at the Balota Airfield is for my friend Maks1019. He was pretty well known around the PlayStation Milsim community and I met him through a lot of mutual friends. After some time we actually found out we lived in neighboring cities and our highschools have always played football games against each other. We never officially got to hang out in person before he took his own life in June 2024, but I attended his service and met his parents. He was all around a good dude. The pilotka on his cross is a nod to him planning to join the air force before he passed.

My friend Maks got own cross in update 1.27. There is a pilotka hat at his cross, as he was supposed to join the air force before he took his own life in June 2024. If you'd like to pay respects, his cross will be somewhere near Balota airfield.
Eddie aka AZCowboy
This memorial was placed for Eduardo “Eddie” Lupe Hurtado. He was a border patrol agent and was killed in a head on collision on Mother’s Day along with his sister and mother. Here is the news story.
Eddie was a border patrol agent, and he carried our team on his back. He was a good man and a good friend — the kind of guy who’d take any fight and usually come out on top. He was killed by a drunk driver on Mother’s Day. R.I.P.
We placed his memorial in Komarovo because it’s close to the first base we built together. That spot is where we all met and Eddie used to be the main basebuilder.

Sergei T. aka Bojindo
This cross is dedicated to Sergei Tarasenko (Sergei Bozhindo was his game nickname). He was the founder of one of the oldest RP servers in the game (RUSSIAN FOREST RP). The black beret is part of his image on the RP server. He died of a heart attack in 2020. He was a family man, a father of two children, a real officer and a patriot of his country.
Chris
This is Chris' cross, located on Prison Island. On the shore, just past the bridge.
Jen aka Poisonantler
Our community lost one of its members and a great streamer. Jen, known as Poisonantler, died under unfortunate circumstances on 8th of March 2018. We decided among the dev team to commemorate her by placing a small cross and a bench in the place where she disconnected for the last time.
If you ever travel to Erbenka (hill west of Bor) and you stumble across this spot, please remember Jen aka Poisonantler. DayZ player and streamer who passed away in 2018. May she rest in peace.
Jordan
Recently, a member of our DayZ community named Jordan unfortunately passed away. His friends were wondering if it were possible to include a memorial in-game for his passing near the town of Bor in Chernarus. I thought the location under the English Oak tree would be a nice place for it.
Harry
There is a memorial in Zelenegorsk around the church, next to a bench. His name was Harry, one of my closest friends. We asked the devs to add a memorial for him and so they did in the recent updates.
Jake L. aka AE86FORLIFE
Jake’s memorial is located in Pogorevka. He played on our "WTR – We That Remain" community server and we also placed a permanent memorial there just for him: a custom garage that is also located in Pogorevka, the last town he lived in while playing with us. He is missed every day.
PM on Discord by "lektarg"
When we heard news of Jake’s passing, our community was quick to tell us that Bohemia could put in memorial spots. We are a fairly large roleplay server on PlayStation, and the town of Pogorevka was where his favorite character he ever played lived. It means a lot to have him remembered in a place that held such significance for him and our community.

Jack Forrest (Jacka Foresta)
There is a cross for my friend, known in-game as "Jack Forrest", at the dairy farm near Green Mountain where he usually used to hang around on the Czech RP server. He tragically died in a car accident, and the community now calls this place "Jack Forrest Farm" in his honor.
Two years after his passing, the RP community held a ceremony to remember him and even created a personalized gravestone. His memorial cross can be found in the corner by the bushes.
Big Red
Big Red was a well-loved member of the DayZ PvE community. He was known for his humor and kindness, and he built genuine friendships in the game. After his passing, Bohemia honored him by placing a memorial cross and bench at his favorite base location in Chernarus, so that players across all servers can remember him. His friends recall him as someone who brought warmth and laughter to their time in DayZ.
Ryan
The memorial in Southwest of Vavilovo was added for my friend Ryan. We met at the start of 2018 and he was such a good friend. He always loved this place in the game especially before the old bus depot got removed from there, which is why the bus sign is next to his cross. I miss him everyday. Fuck I really do.
After dealing with four time zones, career changes, and moving across states and countries, my friends and I finally managed to all meet up in-game to visit our friend Ryan's grave.
Some in the DayZ subreddit may know that this grave was placed in remembrance of Ryan and is now featured on the Memorial Map created by fellow survivor tphace.
We learned of his passing a few years ago, and I reached out to the dev team to get something to remember him by. A large majority of our group first met him back when the Bus Depot was still in Vavilovo during the early access days.
He was a very charismatic, hilarious, and down-to-earth guy; he was a real 'no-bullshit' kind of person, and we loved him massively for it. He also used to always kick my ass on Dark Souls III.
As the years have gone on, we've all grown up – some of us are now married, others are in the military, and I am now working at Bohemia Interactive. I always think about what his reaction would be to where we all are now.
We miss him every day. Please talk to your friends...
Bobby & Chap
There are two graves, with one cross, for two of our fallen members northeast of Tisy. They are located behind a large barn settled into a treeline, a little south of the church above the town. The graves are at the back of the barn with two benches.
Our group of four members, "The Ghosts", went to meet up for the first time in real life. Two of our members lived closer together, so they met up and drove in one car to join us at a steakhouse. My friend Rich and I lived relatively close as well, so we met up for the first time and took my car to the meeting point. Rich and I arrived and waited a couple of hours for our other two members, but they never came. We waited for a few more hours, but they never showed up, and our calls weren't being answered. We eventually had to call it and head home without seeing our friends, figuring that, at most, their vehicle had perhaps broken down.
We unfortunately learned a day later that while Robert and Chap were headed to meet us, a drunk driver struck their vehicle, and they were killed. The drunk driver died about a week later. We were told our friends died instantly.
The devs added the memorial for them both at our old base where we all met in-game and held down a base for over a year. We called it the "barn base" for obvious reasons. They're buried out back forever, and it'll always be our DayZ home. RIP Bobby and Chap – the most solid white armband members we ever had!
Elmer aka Pancake
On July 1st, 2024, we lost a very close friend, survivor, father of two, and teammate to many of us in the community. Our friend Elmer "Pancake" passed away tragically and unexpectedly. We met Pancake back in 2016, and after thousands of hours spent surviving, creating bonds, and building a friendship, we soon became best friends.
We live across the country from each other, but it still felt like he was a brother to us. He was someone we talked to every day regardless of what was happening, but now that can’t happen anymore. All of us hope the developers can make it possible to put a memorial in-game for Pancake so that all of us can visit him. We were thinking of the church in Novaya Petrovka, as we always liked to base there. We love and miss you, Pancake. Rest in Peace.
“Friendships made in life are shattered upon death, but the bond we shared is unbreakable.”

Patrick T. aka ProJecTxPaTT
One of our fallen members, Patrick T. aka "ProJecTxPaTT", had a cross placed for him after a tragic home invasion. He was a super cool guy and was taken from us way too soon.
John aka Prospect
This is Johns' cross, also known as Prospect. It is located northwest of Devil's Castle.
Man, I miss Prospect so much. I played with him every weekend of October except for the one he sadly passed away. He taught me so much. Thank you Bohemia.
Cody aka Kh0diak
My friend Cody, known in-game as Kh0diak, can be found at Devil’s Castle. He was 30 years old.
Cody passed away unexpectedly on November 1st, 2021, due to a motor vehicle accident on his way home. He was an avid gun activist – highly intelligent, hardworking, and dependable. Loyal to a fault, he would go out of his way to help the people he loved. Above all, he was a devoted father who loved his 2-year-old son more than anything.
We’re from West Virginia. This tribute means a lot — love what you’re doing.
My best friend and DayZ partner in crime passed away two days ago. He would have loved this, and I'm not sure I can pick the game back up. RIP fam.
I was finally able to make it up to Devil's Castle with my friend to pay respects to Christina Fields friend Cody. Much love <3
... after seeing a comment from Codys best friend, the DayZ team placed a memorial for Cody at Devil's Castle. Home of the base they held down for six months on official as well as the last place where they logged out together.
Robert J. aka SpcKronos
My friend Robert aka SpcKronos passed away of cancer. His memorial is at 6349;13875 on the map ...
This is Roberts' cross, also known as SpcKronos. Located in the woods, southeast of Kamensk.
SpcKronos is my dad. He really enjoyed this game. It’s amazing to see that the devs put a cross in for him.
They added two benches, a cross, and some rocks that weren't there before. We would go there and eat and build a fire because the hill that is there would sort of hide the smoke. That’s where we would take a quick break or log out at. That is the last place he logged out. Robert Jones was his real name, also known as SpcKronos.
Percy
A guy I ran with who went by Percy passed away in 2024. I reached out to the DayZ team and they placed a memorial for him at Gvozdno Cemetery. He was a friend of a friend, and we all got in a Discord and used to run together. Mostly Namalsk, but when we did Cherno, we built a base in the nearby church.

SkyZ
Klyuch is where my best friend SkyZ was laid to rest. He wished for his signature baseball cap and our faction's armband, of which he was super proud and did everything to help others for.
Adam B. aka DocSatan
A grave for DocSatan, who was influential in the DayZDownUnder (DDU) and DUG communities. The memorial was added in version 1.13.
RIP DocSatan from the DayZ Down Under PC community who passed away in March 2021 from complications with pneumonia. You will be missed brother.
This memorial is dedicated to DocSatan, a prominent figure in the DayZ DownUnder community and a leader of the "Lone Wolf Collective" gaming group. He passed away unexpectedly in 2021 due to pneumonia. Following his passing, Australian streamer Boydy73 requested that the developers place a permanent tribute at one of DocSatan's favorite locations. The developers agreed, honoring a player known throughout the scene for his exceptionally friendly nature and his signature UN helmet.
In addition to the official map asset, the DayZ DownUnder server maintains a community-specific memorial at Klen Mountain. Located at the exact spot where he last logged out, the tribute consists of a grave marker and a Mosin-Nagant topped with his iconic UN helmet.
Pauli
... a very loyal fan of DayZ died recently, so loyal in fact that he was even burried with a DayZ T-Shirt. With 1.17 in memory of him, the developers added a cross at his favourite location in the game – the olive house with dome-roof near NE Airfield. His name was Pauli.
Pauli was a friend of mine. His memorial is at the house north west corner of the northeast airfield. RIP players!
Cody P. aka Wick
There was a memorial added for my buddy, and the devs included a personal touch to it. It's located by the Olsha tower. He passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2023. We met playing DayZ and eventually found out we lived within minutes of each other, becoming very close friends over the course of six or seven years. I mentioned the motorcycle crash to the DayZ contact, and it turned out the person in charge of the memorials had also lost a friend in a motorcycle accident. Because of that connection, they placed a motorcycle helmet on his cross. It was a moving gesture and a pretty cool ordeal.
I picked that spot by the Olsha tower because it’s where he had a base on the radio tower when we first met (I think the server was Trump's Wall). I chose that place because of the pretty view and the bench. It seemed fitting.
His name was Cody Pierce, but his username was Wick. The owner of Sunnyvale is putting a motorcycle statue memorial in the safezone with a “press F to pay respects” button to interact with it. He was top of the kill leaderboard for many seasons and remained very active in the community.
We had a big memorial on Sunnyvale in October 2024. The owner of the server put a memorial in place in a safezone, featuring his favorite ghillie suit. It was a really nice gesture.

Steve
After a hard battle with cancer, my buddy Steve passed away back in April of 2024.
I met Steve through my wife. We would end up working together and when COVID hit, I started playing Xbox again. That’s when Steve and I really became close and I got to know his friend group.
The first night we played, we went to an area they called Old Camp and cooked meat over a fire. I thought I was doing good when I found fat on a wharf and brought it back. They had played for a while, but I hadn’t played before. After eating my fat, we split up and I started hearing laughing. They told me it was cannibals and were scrambling to find me. I thought cannibals were NPCs meant to give the game some variety for enemies. As it turned out, I was the cannibal.
Next trip to old camp, I put too much cooked meat in my pockets and died of heat exhaustion. That’s when we moved to Berezino and built a base at the PA building. Steve was there when I got my first kill using a Winchester.
Anyway, this cross is located at Old Camp. Forever memorialized in a spot we spent hours upon hours just hanging out when we couldn’t do so in person.
On the Chenarus map, look at Krasno airfield. Slightly southeast of the airfield you’ll see a Y shaped stream. Near that stream are some large rocks and a small clearing. The cross is right there.
Bailey aka coltsallday02
Bailey put in near inhuman numbers of hours into DayZ since its alpha days. I’m willing to bet he had more hours the day he died than many streamers.
I originally reached out to the dev team for the cross to surprise his family, including his brothers, who were part of the group. He strong-armed me into playing DayZ with him and honestly wouldn’t stop talking about it when I made the switch from Xbox to PS5. He’s the reason I have at least 500 hours in the game.
After getting his cross and showing it to his mother over a Facebook Messenger call, I’ve made a journey back to it every character wipe. I place one of his favorite weapons — either the SV-98 or the Mosin — backlit with a road flare, along with tactical bacon, a Mad Monk Kvass, and a saline bag in front of it.
Once everything is placed, I park my character at the cross and leave him there until the wipe comes through. On PSN, you’ll always find me at his cross the night before a character wipe.
Balbanes3
We just held an in-game memorial for a good friend of us who passed away, @Balbanes3. A massive thank you goes to @dayz who was so kind to give him a resting place next to Willow Lake. We miss you buddy.
For those of you that know Balbanes from the DayZ community, I'm afraid I have some awful news. I've been in contact with his wife and I'm sorry to say that he passed away suddenly last month. I'm gutted. He was a lovely person, and a good friend. She wanted me to pass this on. [7. Sep. 2020]
Eight4
My brother Eight4 is memorialized at Willow Lake along with a friend of him. Drop them a beer to share if you happen to be running by.
I love hearing about people that have found his in game resting place. There are actually two crosses there if you recall. One is my brother who's in game handle was Eight4. The other is a friend of his who passed a bit before him who's in game handle was Balbanes.
... an emotional tribute to an incredible and loved member of the DayZ community ...
Phil
A message from Tim, Max, Nils, Dominik, Vincent and Jonas arrived to the DayZ team. These guys are a group of DayZ players who lost their friend Phil in a tragic accident in 2017. They are reminiscing about their first meeting:
"We met him at the very beginning of the DayZ standalone near the Rify in that old helicopter crash site (one of the ones that did not spawn randomly). It was a pretty hilarious situation, as he and I did not see each other until the moment we both went inside the helicopter. We both panicked so hard! Even though most players shot on sight at that time, we did not. Two minutes later, we were both laughing so hard together in his TeamSpeak; it was the beginning of the best friendship of my life. There are so many more great memories we shared together because of DayZ. Me and my whole squad really want to thank you for these memories!"
They sent us this message because it was Phil's birthday and they asked us to commemorate him in the game on the spot where they first met.
So we [the DayZ devs] decided to place a memorial at this place in a form of a small cross. This cross will be in game since 0.63 and if you come across it, just remember it belongs to Phil, one of the players.
Bendman
I just thought I should let you know another memorial was added to the map on Klen Mountain. Bendman was a friend of mine. His memorial was at his last base spot, so our group ended up agreeing that should be his spot.

Tristan
The memorial at Berezino, near the red and white smokestack, is for one of my friend’s mates who sadly ended his life. His name was Tristan.
Rafi
A cross with a teddy bear. A friend of mine had one of the biggest PvE communities on Xbox. It was an honor to be a trader and admin on Hellgate. His dream lives on. He loved DayZ.
RIP Rafi
zNomi
Dedicated to zNomi. Like us all, zNomi and I have played DayZ from day one. We grew up playing this game every night until 4 AM. Thank you for all of the memories; zNomi would have loved this. The memorial is located above the Stary Sobor Military Camp, added in version 1.25.
Jared
We met in 2014 on DayZ, and we became best friends during the three years I knew him. He passed away in 2017 due to cancer. The day everything went down, he was going in for a third round of chemo and he told me not to get on until he came back the following week "recovered." That was the last time we played together. I have opened DayZ a few times since he's been gone, but I never could bear to play the game; I come to tears and sometimes I just leave the game open and sit in the empty TS3 server from years ago. I miss you, Jared. I’m still waiting.
We use to always base in Black Forest at that one house.
Tyler
This cross is for my brother Tyler. The developers just put this memorial in for him, and we were all meeting up here in the pub southeast of Gorka to come see it for the first time.
We built our first base here together — my brother, myself, and our friend Chris. Back then on Xbox, now we’re on PC. Lots of memories in this house. Pumpkin patch out back, firefights over stolen crops — it was our spot.
Every time we pass this house, we leave something here. Always.
Harry
My friend Harry has his cross in 3 valleys. [...] He was a great guy and my clan miss him lots. Hopeless at navigation but a heart of gold.
Abizzo420 aka Bizzo
The Memorial at Rog Castle is dedicated to my brother Abizzo420 or Bizzo.
Sam
Thank you, devs, for putting up Sam's cross. We were friends for years and played DayZ for I don’t know how long. Sadly, he took his own life back in 2022, and I often visit this place, remembering all the stories and moments we had. He was not just a friend I played DayZ with; this dude changed my life in a way. He taught me how to tattoo from scratch, which allowed me to build a career.
This is Sam's cross. Located at the last house before Cape Crutoy. This is where his final base was.
Maximilian S. aka Hypernight
Please do me a favour and add a dedication to one of the crosses. It's on the cliffs west of Kamyshovo. One of my friends reached out to the DayZ team after we lost a friend in a motorcycle accident, shortly after we all finished school. This was his favorite game, and I am sure Maximilian S., also known as Hypernight, would appreciate it.
