Hughie D. aka weav_deth666
A good friend of mine from my home town in real life took his own life 2 days ago [Oct.15th 2023]. We are all gutted and broken not to mention empty. Even though we live in different places now. Our vessel for catching up would be DayZ we would all jump on, childhood friends in our 30’s and play DayZ and talk and it became our way of keeping in touch as well as building camps together, blowing the occasional head off and enjoying everything that DayZ is.
I’m lodging this for the mods and it would mean so much if we were to have his player memorial in the game somewhere we could go to remember the times we played together and somewhere in the game where we knew where he last logged out. It would mean the absolute world to us and I know he would want the same for me if the roles were reversed. We would normally inhabit server 0009. His user name is weav_deth666 but his real name was Hughie Dicinoski, he was a great friend, a great father and the world is a less bright place without him around. [...] He loved DayZ he had over 1000hrs on the game.
RIP TO A GREAT FRIEND - HUGHIE DICINOSKI. 12/06/87 – 15/10/23
Anthony aka WotalTanker
R.I.P WotalTanker. Anthony was a big part of many #DayZ channels and will be missed greatly. He always came in for friendly chats and laughs.
Maks1019
... the newest memorial added to Balota Airfield [...] is my friend Maks1019. He was pretty well known around the PlayStation Milsim community and i met him through a lot of mutual friends. After some time we actually found out we lived in neighboring cities and our highschools have always played football games against each other. We never officially got to hang out in person before he took his own life last June [2024]. But I attended his service and met his parents and he was all around a good dude. The pilotka on his cross is a nod to him planning to join the air force before he passed ...
PM on Discord by "pro f essor"
My friend Maks is getting his own cross in the next update [1.27]. There will be a pilotka at his cross, as he was supposed to join the air force before he took his own life this year. If you'd like to pay respects, his cross will be somewhere near Balota airfield.
Eddie aka AZCowboy
His name was Eduardo “Eddie” Lupe Hurtado. He was a border patrol agent and was killed in a head on collision on Mother’s Day along with his sister and mother. Here is the news story.
Eddie was a border patrol agent, and he carried our team on his back. He was a good man and a good friend — the kind of guy who’d take any fight and usually come out on top. He was killed by a drunk driver on Mother’s Day. R.I.P.
We placed his memorial in Komarovo because it’s close to the first base we ever built together. That spot is where we all met, and Eddie was the main basebuilder, to be honest.

Sergei T. aka Bojindo
This cross is dedicated to Sergei Tarasenko (Sergei Bozhindo is his game nickname). He was the founder of one of the oldest RP servers in the game (RUSSIAN FOREST RP). The black beret is part of his image on the RP server. He died of a heart attack in 2020. He was a family man, a father of two children, a real officer and a patriot of his country.
Chris
This is Chris' cross, located on Prison Island, on the shore just past the bridge.
Jen aka Poisonantler
... our community lost one of its members and a great streamer. Jen, known as Poisonantler, died under unfortunate circumstances on 8th March [2018]. We decided among the dev team to commemorate her by placing a small cross and a bench in the place where she disconnected for the last time.
If you ever travel to Erbenka/Ербенка (hill west of Bor) and you stumble across this spot, please remember Jen aka Poisonantler. DayZ player and streamer who passed away earlier this year. May she rest in peace.
Jordan
Recently a member of our DayZ community passed away named Jordan. His friends were wondering if it were possible to include a memorial in-game for his passing near the town of Bor in Chernarus. I thought the coordinates 2881/4327 under the English Oak tree would be a nice place for it. Would it also be possible to include a black cowboy hat resting on or next to the cross at all?
Harry
There is a memorial in Zelenegorsk around the church beside the [bench]. His name was Harry. One of my closest friends. We asked the devs to add a memorial for him and they did in the recent updates.
Jake L. aka AE86FORLIFE
... Jakes' memorial was in fact put in by the devs and is placed in Pogorevka at aproximately these coordinates [...] If you wanna add a bit of extra information WTR: [Our Server – We That Remain] has a permanent memorial as well for Jake, a custom garage we will have placed on all wipes on Chernarus. It is also in Pogorevka, the last town he lived in while playing with us. [...] He is missed every day. Its crazy ite been a year already in a few days.

... when we heard news of [Jakes'] passing our community was pretty quick to tell us that Bohemia could put in memorial spots. [...] we’re a pretty big roleplay server on PlayStation and his favorite character he ever played lived in that town.

Jack Forrest (Jacka Foresta)
There is cross of my friend with ingame name Jack Forrest at dairy farm near green mountain where he usualy used to hangaround on Czech RP server. He died in car accident and the place in community we call Jack Forrest farm. [...]
Here is a video of his remembering after 2 years since his death. On RP server where they even created his personalized gravestone. The cross is in the corner by the bushes.
Big Red
Big Red was a well-loved member of the DayZ PvE community. He was known for his humor and kindness, and he built genuine friendships in the game. After his passing, Bohemia honored him by placing a memorial cross and bench at his favorite base location in Chernarus, so that players across all servers can remember him. His friends recall him as someone who brought warmth and laughter to their time in DayZ.
Ryan
... the one in Southwest of Vavilovo was for my friend Ryan. We met at the start of 2018 and he was such a good friend. He always loved that place in the game especially before the old bus depot got removed from there, which is why the bus sign is there. I miss him everyday. Fuck I really do.
After dealing with 4 times zones (9 hours Distance in total), career changes, moving states and countries, my friends and I finally managed to all meet up in game, and visit our friend Ryan's grave.
Some people in the subreddit may know that this grave was put in in remembrance of Ryan, and is now on the Memorial Map that was made by another reddit user here in the community.
We learned of his passing a few years ago and I managed to reach out to the team to get something to remember him by. A large majority of the group met him first back when the Bus Depot was still in Vavilovo back in Alpha.
He was a very charismatic, hilarious and down to earth guy. He was a real no bullshit kind of person and we loved him massively for it. He used to always kick my ass on Dark Souls III as well.
As the years have gone on, we've all grown up, some of us are now married, in the military, and myself now working at BI, I always think about what his reaction would be to all of us being where we are now.
We miss him every day. Please talk to your friends.
Bobby & Chap
... there's two graves, with one cross for two of our fallen members northeast of Tisy behind a large barn that's settled into a treeline. A little south of the church above Tisy. Graves are at the back of the barn with two benches. The graves seem to randomly spawn stones, we're not sure why.
Our group with 4 members, The Ghosts [...] went to meet up for the first time IRL. Two of our members lived closer together, so they met up for the first time and drove the one car to join us at a steak house. My friend Rich and I lived kinda close as well, so we met up for the first time, and took my car to where we were all meeting up. Rich and I arrived a couple hours later awaiting our other two members but they never came. We waited a few hours, but they never showed, and our calls weren't being answered. We eventually had to call it, and head home without seeing our friends. We figured at most, that maybe their vehicle had broken down.
We unfortunately learned a day later that while Robert and Chap were headed to meet us, a drunk driver struck their vehicle, and they were killed. The drunk driver died about a week later. We were told our friends died instantly.
The devs added the memorial for them both at our old base where we all met in-game, and held down a base for over a year. We called it the barn base for obvious reasons [...] They're buried out back forever, and it'll always be our DayZ home. RIP Bobby & Chap – the most solid white armband members we ever had!
Elmer aka Pancake
Today on 1/7/24, we lost a very close friend, survivor, father of 2 and teammate for many of us in the community. Our friend Elmer "Pancake" passed away tragically & unexpectedly last night. We met Pencake back in 2016 and after thousands of hours spent surviving, creating bonds and friendship we soon turned out to become best friends.
We live across the country from each other but it still felt like he was a brother to us. Someone we talked to everyday regardless of what was happening, but now that can't happen anymore. All of us wish this tweet makes it to your desk in hopes of putting a memorial in-game for Pancake so that all of us can visit him. We were thinking of the church in Novaya Petrovka (we always liked to base there). We love and miss you Pancake. Rest in Peace.
“Friendships made in life are shattered upon death. The bond we shared is unbreakable.”

Patrick T. aka ProJecTxPaTT
... one of fallen members ProJecTxPaTT got a cross placed for him after a tragic home invasion. He was a super cool guy and taken way too soon. [...] Patrick Tordt, Xbox GT: ProJecTxPaTT
John aka Prospect
This is Johns' cross, also known as Prospect. Located northwest of Devil's Castle.
Man, I miss Prospect so much. I played with him every weekend of October except for the one he sadly passed away. He taught me so much. Thank you Bohemia.
Cody aka Kh0diak
My friend Cody — known in-game as Kh0diak — can be found at Devil’s Castle [...] He was 30 years old.
I chose that location because it was the last spot we logged out together. Our base was just south of the castle, tucked in the trees on an official server. Cody passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2021, due to a motor vehicle accident on his way home. He was an avid gun activist — highly intelligent, hardworking, and dependable. Loyal to a fault, he would go out of his way to help the people he loved. Above all, he was a devoted father who loved his 2-year-old son more than anything.
We’re from West Virginia. This tribute means a lot — love what you’re doing.
... my best friend and DayZ partner in crime passed away 2 days ago. He would have loved this and I'm not sure I can pick the game back up. RIP fam.
I was finally able to make it up to Devil's Castle with my friend to pay respects to Christina Fields friend Cody. Much love <3
... after seeing a comment from Codys best friend, the DayZ team placed a memorial for Cody at Devil's Castle. Home of the base they held down for six months on official as well as the last place where they logged out together.
Robert J. aka SpcKronos
... one of my friends [...] passed away of cancer. His Gamertag is SpcKronos. He is [at 6349;13875] on the map ...
This is Roberts' cross, also known as SpcKronos. Located in the woods, southeast of Kamensk.
SpcKronos is my dad. He really enjoyed this game. It’s amazing to see that they put a cross in for him.
... they added two benches and a cross and some rocks that wasn’t there before. We would go there and eat and build a fire because of the hill that is there would sort of hide the smoke. That’s where we would take a quick break or log out at. That is the last place he logged out. Robert Jones was his real name. Aka SpcKronos.
Percy
A guy I ran with who went by Percy died last year [2024], i reached out to the DayZ team and they placed a memorial for him [at 7893;12007] [...] he was a friend of a friend, we all got in a discord and used to run together. Mostly Namalsk but when we did Cherno, we built a base in that church.

SkyZ
[Klyuch] is where my best friend SkyZ was laid to rest. He wished for his signature baseball cap and our faction's armband of which he was super proud of and did everything to help others for.
Adam B. aka DocSatan
[...] a grave for a DayZ player called DocSatan who was influential in the DayZDownUnder (DDU) and DUG communities. Added in 1.13.
[...] RIP DocSatan from the DayZ Down Under PC community who passed away [March 2021] from complications with pneumonia. You will be missed brother.
It’s dedicated to DocSatan, he was a prominent player on DayZ DownUnder and one of the leaders of my gaming group the Lone Wolf Collective. He died unexpectedly of pneumonia a year ago and Boydy73, a prominent Australian DayZ Streamer requested the devs leave a memorial for him at one of his favourite places and the devs agreed. He used to always wear an UN helmet and was a super friendly player.
DayZ DownUnder has another memorial in addition to it for him consisting of a sign on a grave, and a UN helmet mounted on a Mosin located at the spot he last logged out on the server on at Klen Mountain.
Pauli
... a very loyal fan of DayZ died recently, so loyal in fact that he was even burried with a DayZ T-Shirt. With 1.17 in memory of him, the developers added a cross at his favourite location in the game - the olive house with dome-roof near NE Airfield. His name was Pauli.
Pauli was a friend of mine. His memorial is at the house north west corner of the northeast airfield. RIP players!
Cody P. aka Wick
I had one [memorial] added for my buddy, and the devs made a personal touch for it. Pretty cool story [...] it’s by Olsha tower. He died in a motorcycle crash last year [2023], we met playing dayz and found out we lived within minutes of each other. Became very close friends over 6-7 years. I mentioned the motorcycle crash to the DayZ contact and the person in charge of the memorials had their friend die in a motorcycle crash as well. So they put my buddy a motorcycle helmet on his cross. Pretty cool ordeal. [...]
I picked that spot [at Olsha Tower]. When we met he had a base on that radio tower (i think the server was trumps wall?) [...] I [chose that place] because of the pretty view and the bench. It seemed fitting.
His name is Cody Pierce but his username was Wick. [...] The owner of Sunnyvale is putting a motorcycle statue memorial in safezone with a “press F to pay respects” button to interact with it. He was top of the kill leaderboard for many seasons and very active in the community.
We had a big memorial on Sunnyvale last Saturday [October 2024]. The owner of the server put a memorial in place in a safezone, with his favorite ghillie suit and the motorcycle he was on when he crashed. It was a really nice gesture.

Steve
After a hard battle with cancer, my buddy Steve passed away back in April [2024].
I met Steve through my wife. We would end up working together and when COVID hit, I started playing Xbox again. That’s when Steve and I really became close and I got to know his friend group.
The first night we played, we went to an area they called Old Camp and cooked meat over a fire. I thought I was doing good when I found fat on a warf and brought it back. They had played for awhile, I hadn’t played before. After eating my fat, we split up and I started hearing laughing. They told me it was cannibals and were scrambling to find me. I thought cannibals were NPCs to give the game some variety for enemies. As it turned out, I was the cannibal lol.
Next trip to old camp, I put too much cooked meat in my pockets and died of heat exhaustion. That’s when we moved to Berezino and built a base at the PA building. Steve was there when I got my first kill using a Winchester.
Anyway, this cross is located at Old Camp. Forever memorialized in a spot we spent hours upon hours just hanging out when we couldn’t do so in person [...]
On the Chenarus map, look at Krasno airfield. Slightly southeast of the airfield you’ll see a Y shaped stream. Directly west of this stream you’ll see some farm houses. Just wanted to give a general area first. Near that Y shaped stream are some large rocks and a small clearing. The cross is at one of those rocks.
Balbanes3
We just held an in-game memorial for a good friend of us who passed away, @Balbanes3. A massive thank you goes to @dayz who was so kind to give him a resting place next to Willow Lake. We miss you buddy.
For those of you that know Balbanes from the DayZ community, I'm afraid I have some awful news. I've been in contact with his wife and I'm sorry to say that he passed away suddenly last month. I'm gutted. He was a lovely person, and a good friend. She wanted me to pass this on. [7. Sep. 2020]
Eight4
My brother [Eight4] is memorialized at Willow Lake along with a friend of his. Drop them a beer to share if you happen to be running by.
I love hearing about people that have found his in game resting place. There are actually two crosses there if you recall. One is my brother who's in game handle was Eight4. The other is a friend of his who passed a bit before him who's in game handle was Balbanes.
... an emotional tribute to an incredible and loved member of the DayZ community ...
Phil
A message arrived to our team from Tim, Max, Nils, Dominik, Vincent and Jonas.
These guys are a group of DayZ players who lost their friend Phil in a tragic accident this year [2017]. They are reminiscing about their first meeting:
"We met him at the very beginning of the DayZ standalone near the Rify in that old helicopter crash site (one of these that did not spawn randomly). It was a pretty hilarious situation as me and him did not see each other until the moment we both went inside the helicopter. We both panic so hard :D Even thought most of the players shot on sight at this time, we did not and 2 minutes later we both laught so hard together in his teamspeak, it was the beginning of the best friendship in my whole life. There are so much more great memories we shared together because of DayZ. Me and my whole squad really want to thank you for this memories!"
They sent us this message because it was Phil's birthday and they asked us to commemorate him in the game on the spot where they first met.
So we [the DayZ devs] decided to place a memorial at this place in a form of a small cross. This cross will be in game since 0.63 and if you come across it, just remember it belongs to Phil, one of the players.
Bendman
... just thought I should let you know [another memorial was] added to the map [...] on Klen Mountain. [Bendman was a] friend of mine. [His] memorial on Klen Mountain was his last base spot, so our group ended up agreeing that should be his spot.

Jared
I had a friend in 2017. We met in 2014 on DayZ we became best friends during the 3 years I knew him. He died in 2017 due to cancer. The day everything went down he was going in for a 3rd round of chemo and he told me not to get on until he comes back next week "Recovered". And that was the last time we played together. I have opened DayZ a few times since he's been gone but never could bare to play the game i come to tears and sometimes I just leave the game open and sit in the empty TS3 server from 3 years ago. I miss you Jared. I'm still waiting...
...We use to always base in Black Forest at that one house...
Tyler
That’s for my brother Tyler. The developers just put this memorial in for him, and we were all meeting up here in the pub southeast of Gorka to come see it for the first time.
We built our first base here together — my brother, myself, and our friend Chris. Back then on Xbox, now we’re on PC. Lots of memories in this house. Pumpkin patch out back, firefights over stolen crops — it was our spot.
Every time we pass this house, we leave something here. Always.
Harry
My friend Harry has his cross in 3 valleys. [...] He was a great guy and my clan miss him lots. Hopeless at navigation but a heart of gold.
Sam
Thank you for puting Sam's cross, we were friend for years and played dayz for i dont know how long, sadly he took his own life back in 2022, and i often visit this place, remembering all the stories and moments that we had, he was not just a friend who i played DayZ with, this dude changed my life sorta, he taugh me how to tattoo from 0 and it let me build up a career, thank you again for puting his cross in your video.
This is Sam's cross. Located at the last house before Cape Crutoy. This is where their final base was.
Maximilian S. aka Hypernight
Would you do me a favour and add a dedication to one of the new crosses? its about the kamyshovo cliffs cross. one of my friends reached out to the DayZ team since we had a friend pass in a motorcycle accident – shortly after we all finished school. this was his favourite game and im sure [Maximilian S. aka Hypernight] would appreciate it.
